Mt. SAC RBI Machine Alva, LA Mission's Shutout Ace Zamora Named SoCal Player/Pitcher of the Week #2
Mt. San Antonio College redshirt freshman rightfielder Andrew Alva and LA Mission sophomore pitcher Sebastian Zamora are the CCCBCA SoCal Player/Pitcher of the Week #2 (Jan. 26-Feb. 1).
The 6-foot-3 Alva, from Bonita High in La Verne, knocked in 11 RBI over four games for the Mounties, batting .474 with two doubles, two home runs and six runs scored. In a win v. Glendale, Alva delivered two doubles, a 3-run homer and five RBI.
Zamora, a righthander from Burroughs High in Burbank, hurled an outstanding 9-inning, 6-hit complete game shutout v. Long Beach City. He allowed just one walk and struck out nine.
