State Strikeouts Leader Bundi, Modesto Bomber Silva Are CCCBCA NorCal Pitcher/Player Of The Week #5
Monterey Peninsula College sophomore hurler Fabio Bundi and Modesto JC sophomore-slugging third baseman Ryan Silva were chosen CCCBCA NorCal Pitcher and Pitcher of the Week #5 (Feb. 16-22
Bundi, a 6-3 sophomore righthander from Basel, Switzerland is one of the state's most dominant pitchers. He tossed eight shutout innings allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out 11 in securing his state-leading fourth win (tied with many) over Solano. The hard-throwing Bundi also leads the state with 42 strikeouts in just 31.1 innings over five appearances with a 1.44 ERA and an outstanding .89 WHIP.
Bundi made big news in November when he committed to UCLA for next year as he becomes the first Switzerland-raised player to play NCAA Division I baseball.
The 5-10 Silva, from Enochs High and Modesto, flashed his power this past week by driving three home runs in Modesto's four games. The 5-10 Silva batted .389 scored seven runs with nine RBI, four walks and two stolen bases. He accounted for 16 Pirates' runs.
