Orange Empire Conference Building Steam On This Week's Home Run 30 Rankings
Once again, the Orange Empire Conference is establishing itself as why its one of the state's toughest leagues in this week's CCCBCA Home Run 30 Rankings (March 31-April 5).
Santa Ana College has solidified its No. 3 ranking and despite drops by Riverside City to #9 and Cypress to #10, the OEC has picked up speed with the 8-spot rise of Fullerton now at #14, the big leap by now #15 Orange Coast after being unranked a week ago, and the development of Saddleback getting back on the Home Run 30 as well at #30.
The Big 8 also is represented well behind #6 Santa Rosa JC, a 6-spot bump up to #8 by San Joaquin Delta, then Modesto at #16, Sacramento City rising a few spots to #19, and Folsom Lake also climbing up three to #26.
Meanwhile, Fresno City is the top dog at #1 with a state-leading 30 victories, followed by SoCal big-wig Palomar at #2, El Camino slightly up to #4, and Ohlone settling at #5. Skyline is making more noise with two more ladder rungs up to #7.
Los Angeles Pierce is on fire with a 13-game win streak and that allowed the Brahmas to climb five positions to #22.
Defending 3C2A state champ Mt. San Antonio finally makes an appearance as a newcomer at #29.
Three teams fell off the rankings with the highest last rank held by San Mateo (was #25).
The South has a slight edge, 16-14, this week.
This week's rankings theme are the state's top pitching wins leaders, including every Cali Juco program represented.
