Big 8 Duo Capture CCCBCA NorCal Player/Pitcher Of the Week #12

The Big 8 Conference nabbed both awards as Folsom Lake College catcher John Handy and Santa Rosa JC righthander Evan Sandoval are the CCCBCA NorCal Player and Pitcher of the Week #12 (April 6-12).

Handy, a 6-foot, freshman slugger from Woodcreek High in Roseville, was nearly impossible to get out this past week in a 3-game sweep by the Falcons over Diablo Valley. 

He hit .833, collecting 10 hits, a walk and an .846 on-base percentage. Handy scored nine runs, belted three doubles, a triple, a home run and knocked four RBI. His 18 total bases added up to an eye-popping 1.500 slugging pct.  His impressive sophomore campaign continues as he now has a slash line of .440/.500/.736. 

Sandoval, A 6-foot sophomore from Cardinal Newman High in Santa Rosa, turned in two impressive performances out of the bullpen v. Sacramento City. He pitched two scoreless innings to close out a victory on Tuesday and then went the final 6.2 innings of a 16-inning game Friday to earn the victory. He totaled 8.2 innings, allowing just two hits, no runs, two walks while striking out six.
