Conference Champions, High Win Teams Join Home Run 30 Rankings
Conference championships have been clinched by seven teams while a few others may go down to the last game as we enter the final week of regular season play for the CCCBCA Home Run 30 Rankings (April 13-19).
Number 1 Santa Ana in the Orange Empire Conference, #2 Fresno City in the Central Valley, #3 Palomar in the Pacific Coast Athletic, and #4 Ohlone in the Coast South are among the champions joined this past week by #12 Desert (flying up eight slots) in the Inland Empire Athletic, #17 Feather River in the Golden Valley, and new #29 Chabot clinching in the Coast North.
The top 10 includes South Coast current frontrunner El Camino moving up to #5, Big 8 leader Modesto JC rising three spots to #6, Riverside City climbing to #7, Santa Rosa JC dropping a bit to #8, red-hot Citrus up to #9 and equally sizzling Glendale flying up eight slots to #10 as those two are battling for the Western State South crown.
At #13, Allan Hancock is going spike-to-spike with new #29 Santa Barbara City, one game behind the Bulldogs in the Western State North race while #19 College of Marin is closing on the Bay Valley title, needing one win to clinch.
The biggest jump was made by #15 Folsom Lake, driving up 10 spots.
Teams trending in the right direction with strong conference runs have joined the Home Run 30 this week in #20 Mt. San Antonio, still in the thick of the SCC race, #21 Cerritos, #22 Antelope Valley, #23 Lassen, and #27 Los Medanos.
It's an even 15-15 split again for the two regions. While RPI for some below .500 teams are higher than many better than .500 teams, just one team listed in the "Others" are in that category and every .500 or better squad is highlighted in this ranking.
There will be a final regular season Home Run 30 done immediately following the playoff seedings and then a final overall ranking completed after the 3C2A State Championships.
